Blac Gurlz Ink, a unique source of quality lesbian greeting cards, has joined the Make Mine A Million $ Busniess Race.

Spring Opara, owner of Blac Gurlz Ink, is off to New York to attend The First 100 Days for Women Entrepreneurs in America 2009 conference and to represent Blac Gurlz Ink!

Spring said she is excited about the assistance, suport and tools that have been afforded her as a participant of the race. Spring states, "I placed a message on the discussion board asking for assistance in growing my new business, and Nell Merlino, CEO of Count Me In, sent me an e-mail asking about me and my business. I gave her the information and before I knew it she is bringing me to New York to attend the conference where I will have access to workshops, some of the top women CEO's in the Nation and a wonderful networking oppertunity." She notes, "it took me six hours to write that e-mail, this was a unique oppertunity! She (Nell) didn't stop there, she connected me with an LGBT CEO who will work with me to some degree and made me an offer of a local SCORE coach for some one-on-one training. OMG! I am so excited and blessed.

"Blac Gurlz Ink is the brain child of, Spring Opara and Tonette Woodson, two American lesbians of African descent, who saw a void in the lesbian community in regards to quality greeting items and decided to create a business to fill that niche.

Blac Gurlz Ink’s quality greeting items are unique in that they are designed with a “true” lesbian theme. “We use real lesbians vs. professional models in our designs to give them a more authentic feel”, Spring Opara, explains. Tapping their creative energies, and that of artists from the San Francisco LGBT community, the founders have developed and continue to expand their offering of greeting cards, prints, calendars, and other quality items.

You can find Blac Gurlz Ink greeting items at www.blacgurlzink.com or at Laurel Book Store, 4100 MacArthur Blvd., in Oakland, California (between 35th Ave. and High Street).

BlacGurlzInk.com Launches New Lesbian Greeting Card Site

Oakland, California (January 31, 2009)
BlacGurlzInk.com, a unique source of quality greeting cards, calendars and prints for the LGBT community announced the official launch of its online site.

About Blac Gurlz Ink

BlacGurlzInk.com is the brain child of two American lesbians of African descent, who have 32 years of loving women between the two of them, but for the Life of them, could not find a greeting card, a print, a calendar, napkin, doily, or bumper sticker...that represented them, their friends or the lesbians of their community.

BlacGurlzInk.com was created as a premiere place to find quality greeting items with a “true” lesbian theme. It is the goal of BlacGurlzInk.com to present “real” lesbian women vs. “models” in a classy print format. Tapping their creative energy, the founders decided to develop their own line of greeting cards, prints, calendars, and other quality items, versus just complaining about it and waiting for someone else to come out with a line.

The founders so believed in this endeavor, that they used their images to start the business. They chose the name, Blac Gurlz Ink, because it contains the most logical commonalities they share -- 2 tattooed Black girls, using a print medium.

“We started with our images because we are dedicated to this, plus we work for free! We hoped, and it has been affirmed, that our courage would inspire others to model for us,” states, Spring Opara and Tonette Woodson, founders of Blac Gurlz Ink.

They continue to photograph themselves and other women loving women in order to produce a wide selection of greeting items that appeal to a variety of purveyors.

Their second photo shoot, Graffiti Queers was shot on January 18, 2009 and the subsequent cards are scheduled for release in mid-May 2009. To view the complete line of items, please visit: www.blacgurlzink.com.

Additionally, their greeting cards can be found at Laurel Bookstore, 4100 MacArthur Blvd. in Oakland, California, beginning February 2009.

It is their hope that their items fill the void that currently exists in this market.
